The Truth About Video Marketing That Nobody’s Telling You
Remember when we all thought we’d missed the boat on blogging? Well, friend, buckle up – because the video revolution is here, and unlike that blog wave from 2007, this train isn’t waiting around.
In episode 178 of Gratitude Geek, I sit down with video content Superman Atiba de Souza, who’s about to blow every single one of your video marketing excuses out of the water. And trust me, I had all the excuses lined up and ready to go.
Atiba has been playing in the digital sandbox since 1996 (yes, before most of us even knew what a website was), and he’s spent decades figuring out how to make Google fall in love with content. Now he’s bringing that expertise to video – and the strategies he shares are going to change how you think about showing up online.
Meet Atiba de Souza
Atiba de Souza is an award-winning marketer who’s been featured at Traffic and Conversion Summit and in USA Today. His journey started in 1996 when he and two friends built one of the first search engines in his mother’s basement. He spent years building search systems for the U.S. government, including the EPA’s statistics reporting system that was still in use as of 2017.
In 2005, he pivoted to the private sector, spending over a decade helping businesses rank on page one of Google through written content. Then in 2020, he had an epiphany: what if the same storytelling formula that worked for written content could revolutionize video marketing?
Today, Atiba helps solopreneurs and small business owners create video content that actually ranks on Google using nothing more than the smartphone they already own.
“Your customer doesn’t care about your 15 pounds, they don’t care about the outfit, they don’t care about the lipstick, they don’t care about your hair. They care that you are the guide that can help them. They want to hear you, they want to feel your heart, they want to feel your existence.”
