Learning Tech Can Be Fun (Really!)

This week, I had the pleasure of joining Debra Eckerling on #GoalChat Live for a groovy conversation on one of my favorite topics—making technology fun.

I shared the screen with Marcia Macomber, a talented graphic designer and radio host, and Chris Stone, a content creation master.

Together, we explored how embracing tech can energize your work, connect you with amazing people, and unlock new creative pathways.

Why We Love Tech

Chris sees tech as a problem-solver for himself and his clients. Marcia believes it’s a connector that boosts productivity. For me? Tech is an adventure—you can explore the world without leaving your desk.

Tech Can Be Fun—Really!

I compared learning new tech to riding a bike. It might feel bumpy at first, but once you find your balance, it’s exhilarating. Marcia noted how discomfort with tech can be limiting, and Chris encouraged us to seek out “helpers” to make learning easier.

When you find tools that fit, you don’t just become more efficient—you actually enjoy the process.

A Few Tech Goals to Try

Marcia’s advice: Try something new. Explore apps or services you haven’t tested yet.

Chris’s insight: AI content is just a starting point. Personalize it, own your voice, and make it shine.

My tip: With 122,000 interview podcasts out there, make it a goal to be a guest. Everyone has expertise—share yours.

Final Sip from the Panel

My closing words were simple: make tech fun. If you dread using a platform or process, pivot. Marcia reminded us to infuse joy into everything, and Chris posed a brilliant question—if it’s not fun, why do it?

Let’s Keep the Conversation Going

I loved this playful take on productivity tech.

  1. I have to think about the fun part of tech. It’s alot of headache and goggles up alot of time figuring things out sometimes. I do enjoy WeChat, a new app for me. I could watch alot of videos on parts of China that I came from.

  2. Sounds like a fun live chat. I haven’t even looked into AI content but I do want to thank you for the tip you gave me for the tinyPNG plugin. That was such a big help! I gave you a plug on my part two blog. http://themarthareview.com/word-press-and-host-gator-part-two/
