Opportunity Favors Action, Not Excuses

Muriel Siebert, the first woman to own a seat on the New York Stock Exchange, didn’t just break barriers—she bulldozed through them. Her words, “You create opportunities by performing, not complaining,” cut straight to the heart of success.

  • Action is louder than frustration. Complaining is easy. Showing up, doing the work, and delivering results? That’s where transformation happens.
  • Performance builds credibility. In every interaction, how we show up speaks volumes. Performance earns trust and invites new doors to open.
  • Energy follows focus. Channeling energy into solutions creates momentum. Staying stuck in problems only leads to stagnation.

As a solopreneur, I’ve learned that results speak when words fall short.

“You create opportunities by performing, not complaining.”

Muriel Siebert

This quote reminds me to stay committed to excellence and resilience, even when circumstances feel unfair.

Let’s build opportunities through our actions—because that’s how we change our stories.

  1. Stay committed to excellence and resilience, even when circumstances feel unfair. Hard to do some days. In a typical job, really difficult some days. Entrepreneurial-wise, definitely better to do so.

  2. I have to admit that I don’t really like the comment: “You get results by performing, not complaining.” Yes, sure, nonstop whining is annoying, but there are some real barriers to performance. For example, when you’re expected to go places to do that performing, and you have no transportation or you can’t afford the right clothes. And sometimes, your performance is great but it still doesn’t work. I believe that there is an element of luck involved and there is that connections thing. People who know people get better results than people who are seen as unknowns.

On the other hand, I really like the idea of being a guest on a podcast. It is a good way to get exposure. If you have something unique to offer, that could be the way to advertise your creative output. And maybe you’ll get lucky.

I agree that complaomomg is useless and boring. Even if you don’t have luck and it takes a long time to succeed, if you maintain a positive attitude, something could happen.

    1. oops. Weird late night typo. Not complaiomomg… complaining.

    2. I do agree with you about luck. Be sure to grab my podcast guest cheat sheet if you are serious about being a guest on shows: https://gratitudegeek.kit.com/get-booked
