Recovery, Sci-Fi, and a Slower Holiday Weekend

After weeks of coughing and wheezing, I’m finally feeling almost normal again. This week included a quiet Independence Day at home, a finished sci-fi binge, a new Substack setup for Sci-Fi Book Pod, and a look ahead at upcoming events.

A Quiet Holiday Weekend

After weeks of coughing and wheezing, I’m finally feeling 99% “normal” again!

Since Shane and I have both been under the weather, we opted for a quiet holiday weekend rather than leaving the house to celebrate Independence Day. We made pulled pork sandwiches for dinner, then enjoyed the neighborhood fireworks from our windows.

While I was healing, I finished watching the TV series Person of Interest on Prime Video. A lot of shows have series finales that make you want to cringe for the actors. Person of Interest nailed their finale. If you like sci-fi, I highly recommend the show. It was both unexpected and entertaining.

Speaking of sci-fi… Sci-Fi Book Pod, the hobby project co-hosted by my husband and me, has successfully launched on Substack.

When Alesia Galati shared that Substack now acts like a podcast aggregator, I immediately set it up and redirected our official URL. Since it’s a hobby podcast, I’ve been looking for a “free” podcast page for the show. Substack works like a charm!

Does this mean I have to actually engage with Substack? Maybe?

I have such limited bandwidth for social media. That’s why I’m looking forward to Kelsey Green‘s Practical Digital Minimalism workshop later this week.

And oh eh, my guest appearance on The Passion to Profit Podcast hosted by LuAnn Buechler aired a few days ago. You can watch our conversation about gratitude as a business strategy on YouTube and all the podcast players.

Weekly Post Recap

And now, here’s the recap of the posts from this past week:

If you are a frequent reader, then you know I’ve been rebuilding my podcast archive for a couple of years now, after my original blog, momgeek.com, was hacked. Thus, the older podcast episode recaps (ya know, the titles that start with numbers).

Looking forward

This week on Gratitude Geek, I’m announcing a new direction for the show. Plus, I have some other exciting things to share!

Stay Groovy!

  1. Oh noooo… I glad to hear you and Shane are 99% better. And “Person of Interest” is an amazing programme! 🤩

I had no idea that Substack now acts like a podcast aggregator! I’ll have a look at it, as I have a podcast too. Thanks for the heads up!

    1. Person of Interest was so good. I’d totally watch the whole thing again. I’m curious to see what happens with Sci-Fi Book Pod after it’s been on Substack for a few months.

  2. So much content here. I’ll have to bookmark it for later.

    1. It is! My Sunday roundups are usually pretty jam packed.

  3. I’m glad to hear that you are feeling better. A quiet holiday weekend sounds like just what the doctor ordered.
Congrats on the new substack. I’ve been on substack for a while. I love being able to just go in and read what different people have to say.

    1. Thanks, Barbara! I’ll go look for you on Substack!

  4. I’m glad to hear you are feeling better. Sorry that you’ve been ill. I don’t know about Subtrack at all. I should have a google and see how it works. Everybody seems to be on it nowadays.

    1. You already have a wonderful blog, Lily. You don’t need Substack. 🙂
