No-Nonsense Guide to Perfect Title Length
Let’s talk about title length. Sounds boring, right?
But honestly, getting this right can make a big difference in how your content performs. Whether it’s a blog post, YouTube video, or email subject line, how long (or short) your title is can impact whether people actually click on it.
So, let’s break it down.
Blog Post Titles: Keep It Short (Around 60 Characters)
When it comes to blog titles, keeping it under 60 characters is a sweet spot.
Why? Well, Google usually only shows the first 60 characters in search results. If your title is too long, parts of it will get cut off, and no one wants that.
Plus, staying around that length lets you pack in a few important keywords while still keeping it easy to read and to the point.
YouTube Titles: Under 70 Characters, Please!
YouTube lets you go wild with 100 characters for titles, but let’s be real—no one’s reading that whole thing.
If your title is longer than 70 characters, it’s gonna get cut off in search results and on mobile, which means fewer clicks.
Even if you go for the full 100, make sure the important stuff is up front. Shorter titles work better.

Email Subject Lines: Keep it 30-50 Characters
Email subject lines are the sneaky ones. If they’re too long, they’ll get chopped off, especially on mobile. And that’s a missed opportunity. Aim for 30-50 characters, or about 4-7 words. This length is short enough to grab attention but long enough to be clear. Plus, it’ll make sure your subject line doesn’t get lost in the shuffle.
Short and Sweet Wins the Race

Whether you’re writing a blog post, making a YouTube video, or sending an email, keeping your titles short and punchy will help you stand out.
