Why “Busy” Isn’t a Badge of Honor

“Busy” is not a personality trait. Female solopreneurs, it’s time to break up with burnout and fall back in love with your business.

Female Solopreneurs + Burnout

Let’s get one thing straight: Busy is not a badge of honor.

Somewhere along the entrepreneurial journey, women—especially female solopreneurs—were sold the lie that being in constant motion equals success. But you know what non-stop busy really gets you? Burned out, bitter, and bored with your business.

Here’s the truth: sustainable growth doesn’t come from overbooked calendars. It comes from boundaries, systems, and doing what actually lights you up.

Today, I chose to take a long coffee break. And guess what? The world didn’t end. My inbox didn’t implode. My clients didn’t revolt. I came back with clearer thoughts and a stronger connection to why I do this work.

So here’s your permission slip: take a damn break. Reconnect with your why. And stop glorifying the grind.

  1. We learned this the hard way. With just Rich and I running our business and also fabricating all the treatments it didn’t leave much time for breaks. However when my granddaughter needed surgery for a life threatening illness, everything stopped in the shop. We put a note on the door and told our customers we would be back…. but didn’t know when. Everyone was so compassionate and caring while Rich and I were worried about our granddaughter and business. Surgery was a success and we still had our customers waiting for us. It was then that we started our little “sneak aways” every so often to recharge and still our customers were there when we returned.. Some even said it’s about time we took a break.

  2. It’s good to remember that we don’t have to do, do, do all the time. But I’m so used to that it’s hard to just sit and contemplate my navel.
